Everett Haimes joined the ASTAC in 2022 as a Network Engineer II. He shared that his true passion and refueling comes from cooking at home, working with electronics, programming systems, motorcycling, and if that isn’t exciting enough, he also enjoys the occasional powered paragliding. It’s safe to say he likes to live life to the fullest!

Before moving to Utqiaġvik, Everett studied and taught himself the fundamentals of computers and network programming. He has been calling Utqiaġvik home for the last 20-years and has worked with familiar organizations such as, Iḷisaġvik College, Arctic Slope Native Association, The North Slope Borough, and the North Slope Borough School District; making him a familiar face in the region. Why ASTAC? He shares with us that the most inspiring aspect of working with this company is “the knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to success that the ASTAC team shows on a daily basis.”

Since coming aboard, Everett tells us that out of all the projects we do at ASTAC, it’s the North Slope Borough School District Student Connect program that brings him the most excitement. “From It’s original conception, to design, testing, and implementation…” he says, “It has been a privilege to be involved with this project from the beginning – I look forward to all that can be achieved with it.” One of the key aspects of being a Network Engineer II for Everett, is what he describes as an “opportunity to expand my skills into the service provider realm whilst still being able to serve the same communities I have for years.”

"Everett enjoys new challenges at work and overcomes them with enthusiasm.  In a complicated networking environment he finds himself at home and is becoming a key contributor at ASTAC." Luke Middle, Chief Technology Officer. We are proud of your accomplishments, Everett, and we thank you for your dedication and service to the co-op. It’s experience and excitement like his that proves to be an invaluable asset and makes us the Arctic Slope’s broadband provider of choice.
