The University of Alaska Fairbanks Fire Department teamed up with the Northwest Arctic Borough Fire Department to conduct fire training and drills in Shungnak. The training included three strong individuals from the Community of Shungnak to be trained in fire tactics and control, and utilize best practices concerning structural firefighting. We also had a chance to talk with all our kids at the school to teach them about smoke alarms and provided activity books for them to take home. Overall, it was a successful and fulfilling three days in Shungnak. Thank you to all those that welcomed us and helped us along the way!
