Cape Blossom Road

The Cape Blossom road is expected to be completed in 2025.

Additional funding was allocated to the construction of a 11-mile-long gravel road connecting Kotzebue to the future deepwater port at Cape Blossom, according to the news release from the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. The road would stretch from the Kotzebue Electric Association Wind Farm to Cape Blossom southwest of town.

"I think most folks are happy it's moving forward," Kotzebue resident Bruce Nelson said. "It should help get freight into Kotz and the region cheaper than having to offload it to smaller barges. There will be more folks using the new road to get out to hunt off the road, more access for berry pickers."
