If you were a caribou of the Western Arctic Caribou Herd, you'd be on your way to your family reunion this week--your family of almost 190,000.
Each summer, after cows give birth to calves, caribou gather on the Arctic Slope. The large crowd helps to keep the mosquitoes down.
This is also the time of year that Alaska Department of Fish and Game will conduct the census of the caribou population.
