Description

Summary

Reporting to the Benefits Manager, this position is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan, etc.).  Processes benefit enrollments and terminations.   Acts as liaison between employee and insurance providers to help resolve benefit related problems, to ensure effective utilization of plans and to maintain positive employee relations. Performs a variety of accounting, recordkeeping, and monitoring functions for the various benefit plans.  This position is a part of NANA’s shared service HR department and interacts with employees, customers, subsidiaries, and clients daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Runs eligibility reports: compiles enrollment materials, distributes enrollment materials, and enters employee information & selections into vendor data bases as well as Costpoint (calculates amount of employees' paycheck deductions for benefits, submits to payroll, and resolves discrepancies).
  • Receives, verifies, and helps employees complete their benefit forms.
  • Helps employees understand employee benefit plans and helps resolve related complaints.
  • Maintains electronic files of enrollment forms and other documentation.  Ensures documents are filed correctly and are in personnel files.
  • Reviews, codes, obtains authorization and processes benefit vendor invoices for timely payment.
  • Monitors and processes benefit premium payments for employees on unpaid leave
  • Logs, compiles, organizes, processes, and summarizes many different types of benefits data.
  • Provides back up for benefits hotline and ticketing system daily with excellent customer service skills.
  • Operates in a climate of confidentially requiring discretion.
  • Reconcile medical FEHB bill to payroll and general ledger monthly.
  • Calculates and manages employee premium arrears for benefit plans in partnership with payroll department.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned. 
Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of benefits, human resources, general administrative, or related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be tech savvy and embrace technology.
  • Strong attention to detail; analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, audit, propose and implement solutions.
  • Must be proactive, able to identify process improvements and efficiencies needed.
  • Must have a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment.
  • Must have common sense and strong problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to multitask while still paying proper attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively handle employee’s concern(s) with a high sense of urgency, in a high volume and fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
  • Must be able to work in-office, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on a reliable basis; Weekends as needed (example: Open Enrollment).
  • Must be able to confidentially handle sensitive employee information.
Preferred Requirements

  • 2+ years working knowledge and use of Deltek Costpoint.
  • 2+ customer service experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies including other NANA companies, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, will require the employee in the position to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and handle constant interruptions.
