FOIA Request to Ilisagvik College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 3, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, North Alaska News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Ilisagvik College. The request seeks detailed information about the presence and support of Chinese National students at the institution.

Specifically, we have requested documents or lists that reveal the number of current students who are Chinese Nationals, categorized by their department of study. Additionally, we seek information on scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. Furthermore, we have asked for details regarding any scholarships linked to the Chinese Scholarship Council.

In our pursuit of understanding how educational institutions safeguard intellectual property and confidential information, we have also requested any policies or procedures that describe how Ilisagvik College monitors its students, including those who are Chinese Nationals.

This request is made on behalf of North Alaska News and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media dedicated to gathering and reporting news for public benefit, access to such records is crucial for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. We believe this aligns with our role in disseminating vital information to the public and qualifies us for a fee waiver as media professionals.
